The Amanzimtoti Waterworks, which supplies bulk treated water to the Southern parts of the eThekwini Metro and Ugu District Municipality, has experienced a failure on one of its pumps which supplies the Lovu/ Smithfield Reservoir.
After an initial failure last week, a standby pump wasutilised to supply water. The standby pump also subsequently failed yesterday, 23 June 2026. Both pumps are currently being assessed by the manufacturers for repairs and pumping is scheduled to resume tomorrow, 25 June 2026.
Areas affected include: Lovu A, B, C Township, Bhekulwandle Area, Msahweni and Lovu phase 1 and 3.
