PUBLIC NOTICE: REDUCTION OF SUPPLY TO PINETOWN, RESERVOIR HILLS AND SURROUNDING AREAS TO EFFECT EMERGENCY REPAIRS

Saturday, 11 July 2026

Durban Heights Waterworks suffered a leak on one of its two pipelines to its Pinetown areas. Temporary repairs were done on 7 July. A permanent repair will be implemented today, 11 July, over a duration of 12 hours. The plant will still be able to supply water to the affected areas, albeit at a reduced flow through an alternative line. The repair is expected to be completed in the latter part of the afternoon, after which pumping will resume.

During this period, the team will also conduct emergency repairs on the Dunkeld Reservoir inlet valve, which is currently restricting flow. The duration for this repair is anticipated to be 16 hours, with supply expected after 03:00 on 12 July 2026.

Areas affected include: Pinetown, Mountain Ridge, Methven, Blair Athol, New Germany, Wyebank, Paradise Valley, Reservoir Hills, and surrounding areas.

We encourage users in these affected areas to use water sparingly during this period. uMngeni-uThukela Water apologises for the inconvenience caused to residents.
