Public Notice: Disruption of Water Supply to Hilton and Vulindlela

Public Notice Water Disruption at Hilton

10 August 2026

uMngeni-uThukela Water (UUW) wishes to inform members of the public, customers and affected stakeholders of a disruption to water supply to Hilton, Vulindlela and surrounding areas.

The disruption is due to an electrical fault at the Howick West Pump Station, specifically affecting the Groenekloof pump sets that supply water to Hilton and surrounding areas.

The Groenekloof pump sets also indirectly supply the Vulindlela system through the Groenekloof Reservoirs. Consequently, both the Groenekloof and Vulindlela Reservoirs are currently running low, and customers in the affected areas may experience reduced water pressure and/or interruptions to water supply.

UUW’s technical team, together with external specialist service providers, is currently on site attending to the fault. The teams are conducting investigations and testing to determine the extent of the fault and the repairs required.

At this stage, UUW is unable to provide an estimated time for the restoration of normal water supply, as specialist teams are still conducting technical assessments. Every effort is being made to resolve the fault and restore supply as soon as possible.

Members of the public in the affected areas are urged to use water sparingly during this period.

UUW will provide further updates as soon as reliable information on the progress of the repairs and expected restoration of supply becomes available.

UUW sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience and understanding of affected customers and communities.
