uMngeni-uThukela Water wishes to update the public on progress on the emergency repairs currently underway at the Durban Heights Water Treatment Works.
Repairs to the Pinetown pipeline have been successfully completed, and water supply to the Pineside system has been restored.
However, repairs to the Dunkeld Reservoir inlet valve are continuing due to unforeseen technical complications. As a result, it remains necessary to reduce the flow from the Durban Heights Waterworks, which will impact storage levels at the affected reservoirs and may result in reduced water supply to some areas.
The repair work is anticipated to be completed by 18:00 this evening, after which the system will gradually return to normal operation.
Residents in the affected areas are urged to use water sparingly until the repairs have been completed and reservoir levels have recovered.
uMngeni-uThukela Water apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their patience and cooperation while these essential repairs are being carried out.
